Nature-based tourism, environment and land management

The nature-tourism industry needs access to land with scenery, native plants and wildlife. Land managers need money to maintain their land, its natural resources and built infrastructure. For private lands and public lands managed for economic production, landholders also expect an economic return over and above operating costs. In national parks and other public lands allocated for conservation, management agencies face increasing costs from growing visitor
numbers, demands and sometimes litigation, and severe shortfalls in government funding.
