Free time and leisure participation international perspectives

This book is an expanded and updated edition of World Leisure Participation: Free Time in the Global Village, published in 1996 (Cushman, Veal and Zuzanek, 1996). An updated version of the book is justified on a number of grounds. First, since the mid-1990s, worldwide patterns of leisure participation have changed, as have the social, political, economic and cultural influences on leisure. In each of the chapters
in the book, updated national survey data on leisure participation are included which, in some cases, provide a basis of comparison with earlier surveys to establish temporal trends.
