In the word of electronics nowadays very advanced systems can be integrated on one chip. This is mainly possible by the ability to built complex functions with digital VLSI. However, not every functionality can be achieved using digital electronics. For example, some applications might require signal processing at a high frequency that is too high to processed with analog circuitry which can be integrated completely or partially.
